RIGGING GUIDE | WHEN TO USE THE 10/0 : 1.5oz COMBAT JIG HEAD
WHEN SHOULD YOU USE A 10/0 1.5oz JIG HEAD?
Sometimes the plastic isn't the problem. You just can't get the bloody thing where you want it. Our new 10/0 Combat Jig Head in 1.5oz gives you a heavier option for bigger plastics, deeper water & stronger current.
WHEN I'D REACH FOR THE 1.5oz
DEEPER WATER: Pretty simple really. More weight gets your plastic down into the zone quicker instead of spending half your retrieve trying to get there.
STRONGER CURRENT: If the current keeps pushing your plastic up or away from where you want it, sometimes ya just need a bit more weight to keep it where the fish are.
BIG PLASTICS: These are a 10/0, so we're talking the bigger stuff. Think 200mm Popeye Mullets, 200mm Hollowbaits and your other big soft plastics.
HOW I'D FISH IT
SLOW ROLL: Get it down to the depth you want and give it a nice slow retrieve. Let that big plastic do its thing.
LIFT & DROP: Let it sink, give it a lift and let it fall again. The extra weight gets it back down pretty bloody quickly, which is exactly what we want when the fish are holding deep.
VERTICAL: Straight over the side of the boat. Drop it down to where the fish are holding and work your plastic through them. Nice & simple.
LEDGES & DROPOFFS: Cast past the ledge, let it sink and work it down the change in depth. The extra weight helps keep that plastic down around the structure instead of pulling it straight up and away.
And remember, heavier isn't automatically better. If a lighter jig head is getting your plastic where you want it and it's swimming how you want it, use the lighter one.
My simple rule? Use enough weight to get your plastic where the fish are.
And when ya need more? Get it down there.
